Neighbourhood Policing Survey launches in Norfolk |
||
Norfolk Constabulary is launching a new survey to help people shape policing priorities in their communities. The Neighbourhood Policing Survey – funded by the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Norfolk - takes just five minutes to complete. The responses will be shared with local policing teams to help them understand each area’s different concerns, right down to the postcode. Chief Supt Wes Hornigold, local policing commander, said: “Effective policing starts with listening. This survey is another opportunity to tell us what matters most to you in your community — whether it's tackling anti-social behaviour, improving visibility of officers, or addressing specific safety concerns in your area. “Your feedback will help inform how neighbourhood policing teams operate.” The NPS is the first survey to be launched as part of the constabulary’s new Public Voice initiative. Public Voice is funded by the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner and forms a key part of its Police and Crime Plan. The project is aimed at using best practice around data and survey design to collect better insight from the views of the residents in Norfolk and help provide a consistent method of priority setting by neighbourhood teams. Norfolk’s Police and Crime Commissioner, Sarah Taylor said: “In talking to people across the county, many people have told me that they would like to be able to understand how their local police set policing priorities in their local area. “The Public Voice initiative is an exciting first step in responding to what people have said about police priority setting and has the potential, over time, to increase the intelligence that the police receive through other important channels such as Neighbourhood Watch. “It has been set up to respond to quite a substantial need and has been specifically designed to be a future-proofed, recognisable communication tool over time. “By receiving information from people across Norfolk, and combining it with robust data analysis, there is the potential for the police to create much more insight and then to prioritise work accordingly in different areas. This neighbourhood policing survey is a great opportunity for anyone living or working in Norfolk to help set the priorities for the police in their local area. “If over the last 18 months you have talked with me, or sent an email to me, asking how to get the police to respond to a particular issue in your area, I would ask that you please give this a go. It can take as little as a couple of minutes to complete the survey, and it has the potential to make a great difference in your community.” The NPS is available in the top three non-English languages spoken in Norfolk, as well as in an easy read version.
